TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Thursday morning at the State Capitol, protesters brought muffins to the capitol in hopes of having their voices heard.

A combination of more than 300 muffins and McMuffins were dropped off at Governor Rick Scott's office. The delivery was a part of a protest of Evan McMullin getting left out from the presidential general election ballot in Florida.

Protesters brought the Governor's Office breakfast, hoping Scott would consider approaching the secretary of state to consider adding the independent nominee to the ballot.

"People are becoming more and more unhappy with the two major parties, with the way things are in Washington, and with how you just can't accomplish anything. It's just going to be the way it is, not necessarily the way people want it. People don't want to choose from the lesser of two evils," said Michele Carmichael, part of the Independent Party of Florida.

A spokesperson for the department of state said that state laws were followed in setting up the ballot, which offers six party options: republican, democrat, constitution reform, libertarian, and independent.
