TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - With the summer heat, humans aren't the only ones who are in need of protection.

Our four legged friends can also feel the effects of too much sun, especially when it comes to the pads on their feet.

Tallahassee Animal Services says, owners need to be more cautious when it comes to walking your dog on hot pavement.

They say, if it is too hot for you to walk outside barefoot, then it's most likely too hot for your dog. Fortunately there are things that can help to prevent your dogs feet from over-heating.

Tallahassee Animal Service also suggests walking your dog on the grass to help prevent over-heating.
