TUCKER, Ga. (AP) — Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty for a man accused of gunning down a woman as she waited at a bus stop in metro Atlanta.
WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1MMOmOD) that the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office will seek the punishment in the case against 18-year-old Christopher Merritt of Lithonia.
DeKalb County police say Merritt shot and killed 19-year-old Marcaysia Dawkins on Nov. 23 while she waited for a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority bus.
Police have said video surveillance evidence helped identify Merritt as a suspect.
