TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - Proposed legislation for the 2016 Legislative Session would put in place measures to increase Campus Security at State Universities.
The Council of Presidents voted Thursday to ask the legislature to fund the $74 million, three-year program. The proposal asks for $37 million, or 50% of the total, for the 2016-2017 school year. The school would then receive $18.5-million for each of the following two years. The funds would pay for training, resources and equipment at 28 colleges.
Five of the 28 state campuses currently have police or armed security.
