Proposed City Budget Asks for 41 New Full Time Positions

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Over 40 new positions with the City of Tallahassee are being proposed in the 2016 budget.

Eighteen of those positions are with the Tallahassee Police Department, 16 officers and 2 investigators, but the other positions are spread out across the city.

Another 16 proposed positions will go to the Fire Department. According to the proposed budget, those positions will be used to staff the station at the Tallahassee-Leon County Public Safety Complex. As of July, that station is being staffed with overtime employees until the positions can be filled in October.

Below are the proposed positions:

Police Officers - 16 full time positions
Police Investigators - 2 full time positions
Senior Horticulture Technician with Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs - 1 full time position
Equipment Operator II with Public Works - 2 full time positions
Fire Engineer - 3 full time positions
Firefighters - 6 full time positions
Lieutenant - 3 full time positions
Maintenance Repair Worker with the Fire Department - 1 full time position
Training Specialist - 1 full time position
Fire Inspector Specialist - 2 full time positions
Electric System Operator with Electric Department - 1 full time position
Airport Maintenance Technician - 1 full time position
Airport Operations Agent - 1 full time position
Senior Technical Support Analyst with the Management & Administration Department - 1 full time position
Administrative Specialist I with the Ethics Office - 1 part-time position
