MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL)--Its a divided issue among the Midway community some say they would welcome an adult entertainment club, but others say they won't.

"What are the potentials of the businesses, whether they are good or bad," said Gaines.

David Gaines, a resident in Midway says he's on the fence.

"I feel that its an equal right as far as on the business side that any and all business have the right to petition this community to be here," said Gaines.

The North Florida Minority enterprise group proposed building one of these clubs to council members last month.

"The city of Midway has actually allowed the establishments since 2004 none of them have been established," said Chris O'neal.

Chris O'neal, the attorney for the club says the problem is they wouldn't be able to serve alcohol.

"Right now we're at a proposed amendment change, without that amendment change there's no plan to move forward there's no plans to move forward with the club or move forward with the permit process," said O'neal.

The new ordinance would permit sexually oriented businesses to serve alcohol after getting a license from the city. Gaines says the alcohol is a minor issue.

"The bottom line would more so be the business itself and what it brings to the community," said Gaines.

As for the proposed strip club, attorney O'neal couldn't tell us the location or the specifics. He says that won't be determined until council decides.

"If the language doesn't change or if the proposal doesn't pass then this group probably will not continue to exist," said O'neal.
