(WTXL) - A new proposal would ban vaping in workplaces, like restaurants in Florida just like the cigarette ban.

One vape shop manager says vaping isn't as harmful as cigarettes and the decision should be left up to business owners.

First cigarettes and next on the chopping block could be vaping in the workplace.

Florida voters passed the amendment back in November and now a Senate committee will have the final say.

The bill says it'll protect people from the health hazards of secondhand tobacco smoke and vapor.

But Geoff Liday of King of Vape says the ban isn't fair because vaping isn't as harmful as cigarettes.

The ban would prevent people from vaping in restaurants and other enclosed workplaces.

But people would still be able to vape in places where smoking is already allowed like certain hotel rooms and bars.

Liday argues people who use vaping as a way to kick their cigarette addiction may revert to their old ways.

The Senate committee will vote on the vaping ban next week.
