TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's first and largest independently-owned production brewery is relocating to the Southside.

According to a press release sent to WTXL ABC 27 on Monday, Proof Brewing Company will begin renovations on the 34,000 square-foot former Coca-Cola Bottling Company building on South Monroe Street.

As part of the relocation to 1320 South Monroe Street, the new facility will feature an expanded tasting room, retail store, private event space, kitchen, and beer garden.

The location is within walking distance of Cascades Park.

“We are thrilled to continue our growth on South Monroe Street,” said Byron & Angela Burroughs, Proof Brewing Company’s founders. “We are really appreciative of all of the support we have received from our local community including our patrons, the City, County, and partners throughout the State of Florida.”

In total, the renovation and expansion will increase the facility’s potential production capacity to 30,000 barrels with additional room to grow. The new facility will also require additional employees and support staff.

“This will be a year of growth and development for Proof Brewing Company. We are proud of our growth in Tallahassee and we’re thrilled to reinvest back into the community that has been so supportive of us. It will be an amazing experience to revitalize a historical building near the flourishing downtown district of Tallahassee on South Monroe. Reintroducing manufacturing jobs to this district to serve the Tallahassee community will be a very exciting journey,” said Byron & Angela Burroughs.

Renovations on the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Company building, built in 1948, will begin in March of 2018 with plans to open by Winter of 2018.
