ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — An Orlando high school principal says a student recently brought an unloaded hand gun to the school's campus.
The Orlando Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1W5Jsko) that a teacher at Edgewater High School alerted administrators Wednesday that the student might have drugs. After searching the student, school staff discovered the gun.
A recorded message from Principal Howard Hepburn that went out to parents says law enforcement was immediately contacted and took control of the situation. Hepburn says that the weapon was never used in a threatening manner. There was no disruption to the school day and everyone was safe and secure.
It is unclear if the student is facing charges. An Orlando Police Department representative couldn't be reached for additional details.
