COLQUITT, CO., GA -- The lights are back on for some 1,500 people in Moultrie.

This comes after residents said their power went out around 8:45 Tuesday morning and stayed out through the heat of the day.

Outage information from Georgia Power said the company experienced problems with their electrical system. We’re told power was restored around 6:30 Tuesday evening.

People were not the only ones affected by the outage. Animals at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society also went without power and air conditioning for much of the day. The main task for workers there became making sure animals did not overheat.

So far, officials say none of the animals there are showing any health issues.
