TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) -- Wednesday, donations were weighed in at America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend for the StarMetro food drive.
Over 3,400 pounds have been donated, which equals roughly over 2,800 total meals for families in need.
"This comes at a really good time because after the holidays we're kind of short in donations both in food and money", said Jim Croteau of Second Harvest. "And this helps us fill in the gaps somewhat and of course we could always use more but this is really nice for them to partner with us at this time."
The "Stuff The Bus" initiative helped get the community involved with helping others in need. Officials at the event say it's that community involvement that is so important to the cause.
"It's a wild moment because for so many people to give [and] to help others", said Sandra Manning of the City of Tallahassee. "We have a slogan now throughout Tallahassee: 'You Care We Care'. And we're all in this together."
Though the event is over, you can still help donate to hungry families and you can do so with either money or food donations to America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
