MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a possible credit card skimmer was found on a gas pump in Madison County.

On Wednesday, deputies were called to Jimmie's Auto Port in Madison regarding a possible credit card skimming device being installed on one of the fuel pumps.

When deputies arrived on scene, an employee stated that while checking the fuel pumps, he noticed that one of the applied pump security seals on one of the pumps appeared to be altered.

According to MCSO, the employee later found a possible credit card skimming device installed on another pump.

Deputies said the employee had already removed the device prior to them arriving and turned the device over to law enforcement.

MCSO has requested surveillance video from management to help with the investigation.

At this time, deputies believe that this is an isolated event as no other reports of similar incidents have been received by the Sheriff’s Office.

MSCO warns residents to be aware of their surroundings and closely inspect fuel pumps for signs of tampering before inserting any credit or debit cards into a fuel pump when purchasing fuel, especially at stations along any major highway or interstate.
