MANATEE COUNTY, FL-  In an effort to accommodate voters throughout Manatee County, County Commissioners took action today to suspend MCAT fares for two days and to cancel regular Board meetings that conflict with Primary or General election days.

Commissioners unanimously agreed to suspend regular MCAT fares on Aug. 26 and Nov. 4. All fixed-route bus service passengers will be allowed to board MCAT buses for free on the two election days. Buses and trolleys will not deviate from their established fixed-routes or schedules. Paratransit riders are asked to call (941) 748-2317 in advance to schedule a ride to their polling place.

In a separate vote, the Board decided to cancel its Aug. 26 and Nov. 4 meetings and directed county staff to avoid scheduling Board meetings on election days in the future.
