TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - WTXL ABC27 Political Contributor Trimmel Gomes appeared on the News at 6 to discuss the latest in politics.

Tonight's discussion centered around today's resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder and the heated gubernatorial race in Florida.

Eric Holder has served as the head of the Justice Department for six years. Holder is the nation's 82nd Attorney General and first African-American to hold the office. He will stay in the position until his successor is confirmed by the Senate. President Obama held a White House event today with more on the departure.

In the race for Florida's next Governor, there have been accusations that Governor Rick Scott's supporters tried to intimidate donors at a recent Charlie Crist fundraiser.

Trimmel Gomes joins us every Thursday at 6pm to discuss the latest in politics from Florida, Georgia, and around the country.
