TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman has been arrested after police say she crashed her vehicle into a barbershop while attempting to flee from a hit-and-run accident.
According to court documents, on Oct. 25 Tallahassee police responded to Disston Street regarding a shooting incident.
When officers arrived on scene they found one person inside the vehicle. According to officers, a silver Lincoln Navigator had crashed into a barbershop on Disston Street.
After officers helped the woman out of the car, they patted her down, due to witnesses saying there was a gun in the car.
The woman was identified as 38-year-old Tina Kibler. Officers said Kibler appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, based on the way she was speaking and acting.
Kibler told officers that she had just left from a home on Manatee Street. Someone tried to get her to stay and for some unknown reason, Kibler said some guys started shooting at her from a porch.
Kibler stated she immediately fled the scene in her vehicle as the shooting continued, which she said led her to crashing into the barbershop.
After speaking with Kibler, officers determined pieces of her story were confusing and missing exact details.
Documents said officers spoke to a witness who explained he heard the crash and ran over to the vehicle to help.
The witness told police that he’d seen a gun in Kibler’s hand and she was saying “someone is trying to kill her.”
Officers decided to search Kibler’s purse and they found a loaded gun with fresh blood on it. Officers said Kibler denied any knowledge of the gun.
Inside the vehicle officers found shell casings on the floor and blood on the seats.
While on the scene, officers later learned that Kibler’s vehicle had been involved in a hit and run traffic crash just moments before crashing into the barbershop.
Officers investigated the area of the hit and run crash and located several shell casings that matched the ones found inside Kibler’s vehicle.
According to court documents, Kibler was not arrested on scene but she was taken to the hospital regarding her physical well-being. Officers said she may have been under the influence of drugs.
Based on the evidence gathered by officers, Kibler is now facing charges of hit and run with property damage, carrying a concealed firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
She was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility but has since bonded out.
