THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - The Thomasville Police Department has warned citizens about scam calls from fake utility providers.
Police said that they have received calls from residents regarding these scam calls where citizens are being threatened for money.
They said that during these calls, victims are told to pay large amounts of money or their services will be disconnected. Citizens told police that they were instructed to go to a CVS Store to purchase prepaid cards to send the payment.
Police said they were told that the scammers were presenting themselves as either City of Thomasville Utilities or Georgia Power. They have warned citizens not to send any money to anyone about their services.
They have told victims to notify their utility provider.
