OCEAN COUNTY, FL (WWSB) -- A new cell-phone case that makes it appear as though the user is carrying a firearm has caused police to issue a warning against it's use.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office in Florida said via Facebook, "This cell phone case is not a cool product or a good idea."

They also went on to say, "A police officer's job is hard enough, without having to make a split second decision in the dark of night when someone decides without thinking to pull this out while stopped for a motor vehicle violation."

The phone case is available online for iPhone 5 and 6, selling between $5 and $50.

The website advertises that "this fake 'pistol' works with an app so you can interact with a digital version of the gun in the same color on your iPhone 5 screen."

They add, "Don't worry, you can't actually shoot anyone." Unfortunately, police may not be able to tell the difference between this case and the real deal in an encounter.
