TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is warning locals to be on the lookout after they've received reports of a car sale scam on Craigslist.
Officers say the fake ads are for used cars with prices that are extremely low. They remind folks that if a deal appears to be too good to be true, it probably is.
One way to spot the scammer's posts: TPD says every title lacks spacing, so the words run together. Other clues include no location in the listing, fewer than two photos of the vehicle for sale, and if the seller accepts gift cards or MoneyGram's for payment, that's a big red flag.
