Police: Valdosta Man Cited In Animal Cruelty Case

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) -- After a Valdosta woman told police her husband participates in dog fights, police cited him for violating city ordinances and say they are still investigating the dog fighting claims.

Officers were called to a home on Second Avenue after a domestic dispute on April 6. The woman told officers her husband wasn't home, but showed police all the dogs that were being kept in the backyard.

Officers found nine adult dogs and five puppies. The dog are are being cared for at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter.

The man has been identified as James Bell III. 

Officers say Bell was cited for nine counts of rabies tag violations and seven counts of having too many dogs on the property.
