CAMILLA, GA (WALB) - The Camilla Police Department said it needs the community's help in finding anyone involved in a weekend shooting that's left a man in the ICU.

Investigators with the Camilla Police Department said the shooting happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday in the Jester Homes Community.

WALB was able to speak with Evelyn Dawson who is the victim's mother.

Dawson said her son is Demarcus Johnson, 18, and he is currently in the hospital in ICU.

Dawson said her son is doing well but she wants all of those involved in the shooting to come forward.

"My son could have lost his life at the age of 18. I could have been burying my son. So, if the shoe was on the other foot they would want justice for their sons as well. Somebody need to come forward. Somebody need to come forward because shouldn't no mother have to try to bury their child," said Dawson.

WALB has been trying to contact a Camilla police investigator to confirm the victim, however, we haven't received a call back yet.

Police say earlier Monday that this is an ongoing investigation.
