VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) -- Valdosta police continue to look for 59-year-old Maxwell Ferguson, who has been missing since May 8.
Friday morning, detectives searched the woods near Baymeadows Drive, where Ferguson was last seen, but found no evidence that he was there and have stopped looking in that area.
Police are investigating the possibility that Ferguson - who has Alzheimer's and dementia - may be trying to travel to the Miami area, where he has relatives. Family members there have been notified.
Investigators have learned Ferguson has been reported missing on several occasions by different agencies, who have notified the Department of Aging. Valdosta police have also notified the Department and provided Ferguson's information.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ferguson should call 911 immediately or contact local law enforcement.
