OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a north Florida man suspected of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and her mother remains in critical condition following a motorcycle crash and shootout with police.

Ocala police say 54-year-old Ricardo de Jesus Barrera killed 34-year-old Bonnie-Lyn Motto and 67-year-old Julia Motto Monday afternoon, two days after police had responded to a home the younger woman shared with Barrera.

Bonnie-Lyn Motto and her three children - a 22-month-old boy and two girls, ages 4 and 6 - went to stay at her parents' home. The toddler boy and older girl were home during the shooting but weren't physically injured.

Police say Barrera fled the scene on a motorcycle but crashed during a police pursuit. A witness told the Ocala Star-Banner (http://goo.gl/AZy1lS ) that Barrera had a gun but wasn't sure if he fired before an officer shot him.
