ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - St. Petersburg police fatally shot a 43-year-old man who doused himself with gasoline shortly before threatening officers with a pair of scissors.

A woman called police Sunday evening to say her son was threatening suicide.

They warned him to stop but he continued toward them in a threatening manner. Both officers fired. Dixon died at 10:18 p.m.
