PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police in Florida's Panhandle say they caught a real-life "Grinch" stealing a Christmas tree from a church.
An alarm alerted authorities to the Dec. 25 robbery at the Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. According to Panama City Beach Police reports, officers found 34-year-old Jeremy Trammell around 9 a.m. loading a projector, a projector screen, a Christmas tree and assorted decorations into his vehicle.
The church's head trustee, Jeffrey Neitzke, tells The News Herald (http://bit.ly/1mUYKy0 ) that the tree was still in its box. Neitzke says the church had stopped its Christmas Day services the previous year.
Trammell was arrested on charges of burglary, possession of alprazolam and less than 20 grams of marijuana. He was held on $6,000 bond. Bay County jail records did not show whether he had an attorney.
