TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Crawfordville man has been arrested for putting a woman in a choke hold and punching her repeatedly because she asked him to move over in bed.

Paul Parmarter, 36, was arrested by the Tallahassee Police Department on Wednesday.

On Jan. 16, officers responded to Skyland Drive in response to a battery.

While talking with officers, the victim stated she and Parmarter have been involved in a relationship since May 2017 and living together since Nov. 2017.

The victim told deputies on the morning of Jan. 16, she asked Parmarter to move over to allow her more room on the bed while sleeping.

She said that angered Parmarter and he began punching her in the side of the head.

He then grabbed her in a "choke hold," pressing his forearm and bicep around her neck, which caused her to have difficulty breathing.

The victim informed officers she began to feel pain shoot to her left eye and lose her breath. She said she scratched and pulled the hair of Parmarter until he let her go.

According to the police report, the victim immediately called police and Parmarter fled the scene before officers arrived.

Officers found the victim to have a cut behind her ear that needed stitches.

On March 1, officers contacted Parmarter by phone to set up a time for an interview, but he stated he had several errands to tend to and would try to respond to TPD for an interview that afternoon.

He further told officers he would make a few phone calls and then contact them back with a time he could arrive, however he never contacted officers back.

Based on the evidence, Parmarter is being charged with battery.

He was transported to the Leon County Detention Center and his bond has been set at $1,000.
