TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man has been arrested after punching a pregnant woman multiple times when she refused to give him a key to her apartment.
Earlie Henderson, 27, was arrested by the Tallahassee Police Department on Saturday.
On Saturday, officers were called to Putnam Drive in response to an assault.
When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the victim who was visibly shaken and upset and had multiple visible injuries on her body.
The victim said she is currently seven months pregnant and believes Henderson to be the father of the child. She said the two are currently dating and have been together for one year.
According to the victim, the two of them were inside her bedroom when Henderson asked if he could have a key to the apartment.
She refused to give him a key and he became angry about not being able to enter the apartment in the future.
The victim told officers that they began to argue and she made a comment about another woman who Henderson was acquainted with. She said that upset him further, stating "y'all better come get me."
The police report stated no one responded to restrain him and he "lost it." Henderson then jumped onto the victim and began punching her in the face several times.
She said he punched her like she "was a man." As Henderson continued hitting her, she said she "got tired of it" and began to defend herself by grabbing his hair and pulling him backward to get him off of her.
The victim was ultimately able to push Henderson away and stand up from the bed. Henderson, who was standing in front of her at this time, punched her one time in the stomach, saying "now you're not pregnant."
She also said Henderson has been violent with her several times in the past.
When officers made contact with Henderson, he screamed obscenities at them and declined to make a statement about the incident.
Based on the evidence, Henderson is being charged with aggravated battery against a pregnant victim.
He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility and his bond has been set at $7,500.
