WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Crawfordville man faces multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit with a car he stole from someone's yard in Wakulla County.
Dillon Grimes was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
On Aug. 20, the victim contacted the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office and reported that his car had been stolen from his yard during the early morning hours.
Deputies then put the car into law enforcement databases as stolen.
Five days later, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office saw the car and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Grimes continued driving.
After a pursuit, Grimes crashed the car and was arrested for several charges by FCSO.
A couple days later, WCSO deputies traveled to the Franklin County Jail and interviewed Grimes, where he admitted to stealing the car and driving it to Franklin County.
Grimes claimed his original intention was to return the car to the house where he had stolen it from.
On Wednesday, WCSO deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Grimes, charging him with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Since he was already incarcerated in the Franklin County Jail, a hold was placed on him to face the charges in Wakulla County.
