TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Havana man has bonded out of the Leon County Jail after being arrested for robbing a 66-year-old woman with a stun gun.
Malik Ray, 20, has been charged with robbery with a weapon and battery on a person 65 years old or older.
The Tallahassee Police Department were called out the incident at the intersection of Bronough Street and 2nd Avenue on Jan. 20.
When they arrived to the scene, they talked to the 66-year-old victim who told them she was walking to work when three men came up to her. She says she continued walking but suddenly felt someone grab her bag.
The victim said she struggled to hold on to the bag, but was pulled to the ground and drug.
One of the suspects, who was armed with a stun gun, tried to press the taser to her legs but he was unsuccessful. Eventually the victim lost her grip and the suspects ran away.
The next day, Havana Police called TPD to tell them that they had pulled over Malik Ray and found the victim's stolen ID, purse and debit cards inside. They also found a small, pink stun gun in the car.
Later on, the victim was able to identify Ray in a photo lineup.
Based on an investigation, probable cause was developed and police issued a warrant for Ray's arrest. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and got out on a $30,000 bond the same day.
The other two suspects in the case have not been identified or arrested.
