SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Live Oak woman has been arrested after deputies discovered she repeatedly punched and "choke-slammed" a 6-year-old child.
Lakeisha Booker, 38, of Live Oak was arrested by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
Through an investigation, deputies say they discovered that Booker had “choke slammed” a 6-year-old child. She's also accused of repeatedly punching the child in the head.
According to SCSO, the child went to school and his teachers noticed several odd cuts on his body.
When deputies arrived and began to ask questions about how he got those cuts, the child said that Booker punished him.
Deputies gave the child a doll to demonstrate what Booker did and he indicated various aggressive acts.
Deputies then went to talk to Booker, who said that the child received the cuts from playing football.
However, after further investigation, they were able to interview witnesses who described the mother's behavior as violent and witnessed her hitting her child on multiple occasions.
SCSO states it was determined that the cuts on the child were not consistent with Booker's account of the child playing football.
Booker was transported to the Suwannee County Jail for one count of child abuse. She remains in jail on a $2,500.
