VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Police are investigating the cause of a fire at a liquor store in Valdosta

It happened at Hill Street Booze near the corner of Central and Jones Street.

The Valdosta Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at about 8:00 a.m. Monday morning.

When they arrived, smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building. Firefighters found a smoldering fire in the attic, which they quickly extinguished.

Investigators are still investigating the cause.

"Based on the cause and origin determination of the fire around the junction box, like I said, it's still under investigation, but at this time, we are leaning more towards electrical," said Brian Boutwell, Assistant Fire Chief.

There were no injuries reported, and there was minor damage to the building. Two employees were in the building at the time, so VFD was notified quickly.

Boutwell said that he expects the owners should be back in business soon, after some minor repairs.
