Police investigate shooting death of Augusta man

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Police in Augusta are investigating the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old Augusta man.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen identified the man as Anthony Walker, who was found shot in the stomach around 4:44 a.m. Friday on Second Avenue.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (bit.ly/1ww2yow) that Walker was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m. at Georgia Regents Medical Center. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta was expected to perform an autopsy.

Few other details were immediately available Friday morning.
