TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Police in Tallahassee are sending a strong message to shoppers this holiday season in hopes they don't become victims of car-break ins. Police will be out in full force with a new car, but it's not just any new car on the fleet.

The vehicle is being called Bart which stands for burglary awareness reminder tips. The car will be parked in designated areas throughout the holiday season to help remind drivers of what not to do.

The campaign is a joint effort between TPD, LSCO, FAMU, FSU, and TCC police departments. Police call car break-ins a crime of opportunity

and hope this campaign will reduce the likelihood of someone else becoming a victim of car theft.

If you see any suspicious activity such as looking in cars or trying door handles, you are urged to call call law enforcement or report a theft in process by calling 9-1-1.
