TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - More information is being released about two drivers who are in the hospital after a crash on Florida A&M University's campus Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Florida A&M University says Justin Drake, the driver of the Toyota Prius, was at fault as he was heading northbound on Wahnish Way and crossed the center line striking the FAMU vehicle head on.
The spokesperson states Dante Allen, the FAMU employee, appeared to be shaken up but was coherent and alert as EMS personnel attended to him.
According to the spokesperson, Drake was non-University affiliated and is believed to have undergone surgery for his injuries at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Two drivers are in the hospital after a crash on Florida A&M University's campus Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities have now identified the drivers involved as 34-year-old Dante Allen, who was driving a 2008 white Ford Truck marked with a FAMU insignia, and 31-year-old Justin Drake, who was driving a 2017 blue Toyota Prius.
The Tallahassee Police Department says the crash happened near 1835 Wahnish Way, in front of the Lawson Gym. TPD got the call to respond at about 4:15 p.m.
"Both drivers of both vehicles were taken to a local hospital. One of the drivers is suffering for life-threatening injuries, the other from serious injuries," said Tallahassee Police Officer Damon Miller.
Drake suffered life-threatening injuries while Allen suffered serious injuries.
Neither driver had any passengers in their vehicles.
Neither driver has been charged yet as investigators work to figure out exactly what caused the crash. Both the FAMU facilities truck and the Prius ended up facing southbound on Wahnish Way.
Debris was littered across the road as traffic homicide investigators took pictures and examined the scene Wednesday night.

TPD still has not released the names of the drivers involved in the crash or their current condition.
WTXL reached out to FAMU for comment but we have not yet heard back.
