VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Detectives in Valdosta say the woman found dead in a shed behind a home Wednesday is 42-year-old Billie Joann Boyd.
Detectives say she was reported missing by her boyfriend last week. At that time he told police she ran away upset from a home a few blocks away.
Construction workers had to break into the room, which was locked from the inside.
"Based off information that we have now, she ran in the direction of that vacant home," said Chief Brian Childress of the Valdosta Police Department. "Now we think, key word is think, that the door was unlocked, she went inside there, locked the door for whatever reason."
Investigators aren't ruling out foul play until the toxicology report comes back, which could take up to several months.
