ROUND ROCK, TX (KXXV) - The Round Rock Police Department said that they found 71 pounds of meth hidden in a gas tank during a traffic stop on Saturday.
The officer said he had pull over a vehicle on I-35 due to a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the officer became suspicious when he received conflicting stories from the occupants of the vehicle.
A K-9 gave the vehicle a positive alert, leading to an inspection of the vehicle. The drugs were found in a modified gas tank.
Police said the value of the meth is $2 million.
The Austin-American Statesman said that Leon Fields, 36, was booked into the Williamson County Jail on a charge of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, with his bond set at $70,000. Police did not charge the passenger.
