Police Crack Down on Prostitution in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) -- Two people were arrested on prostitution charges in Valdosta Wednesday.

“The Valdosta Police Department believes that Prostitution leads to narcotics use, the degradation of women, and can have long term negative effects on the community at large. The Valdosta Police Department will continue to investigate and enforce the law on prostitution”, said Lieutenant Adam Bembry.

The Valdosta Police Department conducted an investigation into prostitution that has been occurring within the city limits. Undercover Detectives made contact with two females who were attempting to solicit themselves for sexual contact. Detectives were able to make arrests in two different operations. On the first operation, contact was made with Amanda Laverne Williams. The investigation led to her arrest for Prostitution and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana. A short time later, contact was made with the second offender, Shalena Harvey-Buick. Detectives were able to develop enough probable cause to arrest Harvery-Buick for Prostitution.
