VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing a 53-year-old Valdosta man to death over the weekend.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Valdosta Police Department says they were called to a home in the 2500 block of Forrestwood Drive.

When they arrived, they found Emmitt Dennis, 53, unresponsive inside the home. He was pronounced dead on scene by paramedics.

The Lowdnes County Coroner found what appeared to be a stab wound on Dennis' torso. Through an investigation, police learned that Dennis had gotten into a fight with someone he knew.

An autopsy was done on the body the next day. Medical examiners quickly determined that the stab wound caused Dennis' death and ruled the death as a homicide.

Through further investigation, VPD was able to identify the man suspected in the homicide as 40-year-old Elijah Arnold.

Detectives then met with the Magistrate’s Judge of Lowndes County and obtained arrest warrants for Arnold for:

  • Murder (FELONY)
  • Aggravated Assault (FELONY)
  • Possession of Knife During a Commission of a Felony (FELONY)

Arnold turned himself in to detectives on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
