TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- City officials met Thursday to discuss a controversial plan to build a new hotel in the All Saints District.

The project will bring a six-story, 124-room hotel to Railroad Avenue south of Gaines Street.

The hotel is part of a national chain, but the developers Moore Bass Consulting aren't announcing which one just yet.

The project would include an undeveloped area of Railroad Avenue that has been used as a parking lot for nearby businesses.

Community business leaders are upset over the developer's plans to take away the lot, which they say is crucial to attracting customers.

Developers say they hope to being construction within the next six months.
