Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL): The city of Tallahassee’s planning department is in the process of developing a master plan for canopy trees.
Right now, 55% of Tallahassee is covered by tree canopies, which is a higher percentage than most cities. With so much quantity, local experts hope to focus their efforts on improving the quality.
One of the ways they're going to do that is by focusing on more hurricane resistant trees.
Today, master foresters, arborists, and horticulture specialists reviewed findings from a University of Florida study. In it they found recommendations for trees that have high resiliency.
The City of Tallahassee plans to plant more of these resilient trees, and will release the final version of their master plan this summer.
