WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office says a scam is circulating the area involving a caller posing as a sheriff's deputy.
WCSO say they received a fraud report from a victim on Tuesday about a scam caller identifying himself as a "Lt. Johnson."
The caller told the victim that they had outstanding warrants for failure to report to jury duty. The caller then informed the victim that they could settle the matter by sending $1000 in prepaid cards to an undisclosed location.
Deputies say the call is a scam. WCSO says it will not ever handle any situation like this.
They are asking that residents help spread the word and report any calls like these to the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office.
