TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee is warning its utilities customers of a phone scam.
According to city officials, several customers have reported receiving phone calls from people claiming to be from the utilities department, saying the customer's account is past due and threatens utility service disconnection, unless the person pays over the phone.
The city says these calls are not authorized or affiliated with them. They say they do not conduct business in this manner. The city says they do not request customers to pay with a prepaid card.
