TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A petition has been created on Change.org for the reinstatement of former FSU Quarterback De'Andre Johnson.
The petition was created by a user called "joram s" and claims that Johnson was trying to order drinks at the bar when the woman he bumped into punched and kicked him, resulting in Johnson punching her.
As of 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, there were about 80 signatures on the petition and several comments showing support for Johnson.
A user named Andrew Turner from Evanston, IL said, "The video shows he was provoked, kneed and hit first. Taking away his scholarship was cruel and unusual punishment."
Another commenter named April Keyton from Palatka, FL said, "I am a firm believer that you give punishment when punishment is due, but this is far beyond what his punishment should've been. As a FSU fan from day one I can't honestly say that I'm disgusted and appalled at Jimbo Fisher for taken such an extreme measure to punish this young gentleman, because during 2014 football season I know there were at least one player that broke the law and that said player still had the opportunity to play the full season. I stand behind this young gentleman 100%."
