SPRING HILL, Fla. (AP) — The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says they've identified a "person of interest" following the death of high school English teacher.

On Monday morning deputies found the body of 55-year-old Lee Anne Shoeman inside her Spring Hill house after she failed to show up for work at Central High School in Brooksville.

Sheriff's officials released few details but said they found 49-year-old Jerome "Jerry" Sheridan in Hillsborough County on Monday night. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted wounds and will be questioned once he's medically cleared.

Sheriff Al Nienhusi says Shoeman was likely killed sometime over the weekend.

Officials say Sheridan and Shoeman lived together in Spring Hill. She had worked as a teacher in Hernando County since 2002.
