PERRY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 15-year-old has been charged with written threat to kill or do bodily harm after officers say they received information that they were planning a school shooting.
The Perry Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office said that that students at Point of Grace School in Perry had been circulating a rumor that the teen was planning a school shooting. This information eventually reached school authorities and law enforcement was contacted on Thursday.
When they learned of a threat to the school, they immediately found the teen and took them into custody.
At the conclusion of the initial investigation, officials said it was determined that the threat to the school was for a date in the future.
According to Taylor County Chief Deputy Mincy, the teen is now being charged with written threat to kill or do bodily harm.
However, officials said that the investigation is ongoing.
