PERRY, FL (wtxl) - The Perry Fire Department received $3,000 from Georgia-Pacific's Bucket Brigade Grant. They are one of 50 grant recipients from the program this year.
The money will help fund the cost of level A hazardous material suits, which can be used for protection by fire fighters while responding to an accidental chemical spill or leak.
This year, Georgia-Pacific awarded $235,500 in grants to fire departments for equipment that is critical to firefighter's safety. And since 2006, when the program started, they have given more than $1.5 million to fire departments that serve the company's facility communities across the country.
