PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — The final portion of Pensacola's Scenic Highway is now open to traffic more than two months after heavy rain washed away parts of road.

Traffic began flowing Thursday on the highway that's also known as U.S. 90 and State Road 10A following months of repair work by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Heavy rain flooded the Panhandle city on April 29-30, damaging several stretches of the highway.

Transportation officials told The Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/1lbvWtp ) that motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures as road crews finish the work.

The $1.2 million project included reconstruction of the road, installation of new drainage features and culverts, installation of guard rails and retaining walls.
