DECATUR Co., GA (WTXL) - A Decatur County crash claimed the life of Pelham Firefighter on Friday.
Troopers say Matthew Hillard crossed the center lane of Georgia 97 and hit a pick up truck head on. Hillard died on scene.
The driver of the truck, Charles Hall was taken to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital for treatment, troopers say.
A third car was also involved, troopers say that vehicle hit a ditch trying to avoid the crash. That driver was not injured.
The County Line Volunteer Fire Department in Pelham released a statement on Facebook calling Hillard's service "amazing".
He will be laid to rest Wednesday at Camilla United Methodist Church.
