BRISTOL, Fla. (WTXL) - A self-proclaimed 'peeper' is in jail after concerned neighbors reported a suspicious man who was bleeding from his face, knocking on people's homes, and saying he was being "chased by police."
The night of April 13, the Liberty County Sheriff's Office got a call reporting a suspicious man knocking on people's doors on County Road 379A.
When deputies met with residents, they all described the same man: A man who was bleeding from his face and arms, who came to their homes saying that he was "being chased by police."
After some digging, deputies determined the subject had fled into some woods south of County Road 379A, east of H&H Loop.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene and began tracking the man. Thanks to the members of the K-9 team, the man, identified as Gregory Payne, was quickly found.
LCSO says a check of Payne revealed that he is currently on state probation.
Deputies say they also found a pair of binoculars and a flashlight where he was arrested. Later on, Payne stated to deputies that he was "a peeper."
He was arrested and booked into the Liberty County Jail on the following charges: Loitering and prowling and trespassing on property (misdemeanors), and violation of state probation.
