Pedestrian Dies after Being Hit by Panama City Patrol Car

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say that a pedestrian has died after they were hit by a Panama City Police Department patrol car.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that at around 9:42 a.m., a marked Panama City Police Department patrol car was stopped within the southbound lane of Grace Ave at the intersection of C.R. 28.

They said that the pedestrian was traveling northbound on Grace Ave on the east edge of the road, approaching the intersection.

FHP said that the patrol car entered the intersection in order to make a left turn onto C.R. 28 however, the pedestrian also got in the road to cross C.R. 28 in a northerly direction.

They said that the pedestrian fell onto the road, and the patrol car traveled over the pedestrian while turning left.

The pedestrian was transported to Bay Medical Sacred Heart where he was pronounced deceased.

Troopers say the crash is currently under investigation at this time.
