Low-price shoe store, Payless, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday and announced the company will shut down 400 stores immediately.
Payless currently operates three locations in Tallahassee, one on in the Capital West area, one in the Parkway Shopping Center, and another in Governor's Square Mall.
A list of the affected stores was not immediately released.
The company said the stores marked for closure are spread across the US and Puerto Rico.
